Overview

Dominating the parklands between Torrens lake and St Peter's Cathedral lies the Adelaide Oval, often mooted as the most picturesque test cricket ground in the world. The first test match played here was Australia against England in 1884. Since that time the ground has been used for other sports such as rugby league and Australian rules football. The distinctive Victor Richardson and Clarrie Grimmett gates add special character to the ground, while the splendid old scoreboard dates back to Edwardian times. Public tours of the Oval and Museum are conducted every Tuesday and Thursday, and on Sundays during the cricket season.

This place is a very nice, and has a good ground for cricket. It has great value for money, and the sun is nice in the afternoon. Love It!

Adelaide Oval Rulesby Yahoo | 2006-03-13 07:32:25 |

Dont dislike anything but the atmosphere was great. Has the feel of an old cricket ground not a stadium. The hill is very green and the pitch is cracked with a bit of unpredictability good for fast bowlers.

Outstanding!by Yahoo | 2006-02-05 23:29:28 |

I went to Adelaide Oval knowing very little about the place or the game of cricket, yet found myself cheering on Australia with some other 28,000 people. The surrounding scenic of the ground was breathtaking and the the service was second to none. I was amazed at how beautiful it was, so amazed i came back the next day and took the opportunity to take a tour. This gave me a better understanding of this famous tourist icon and indoing so i fell even more in love with it. THIS IS A MUST VISIT for anybody going to Australia, whether its just a tour or a game of cricket this is one of the most breathtaking places i have been to. I cant wait till i go back again!!
