Overview

At 727 meters above sea level, Mount Lofty is truly Adelaide's Mount Everest! And the magnificent panorama at the summit yields sweeping views over the city, the Gulf, Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island. Having gasped at the daytime view, it is almost impossible to resist a night-time return - whether that be at sunset or later in the evening when a galaxy of city lights burns defiantly against the inky blackness of the ocean beyond. Visitors can drive to the top but, during daylight, the most rewarding method is to climb there by taking the bush track through Cleland Conservation Park.

Need to get those legs moving after hours in the car or on a plane? Park the car at Waterfall Gully (about 8km SW of the CBD near Burnside) and walk up to Mt Lofty Summit on a well cleared trail. Enjoy the natural surrounds and you'll have earnt your coffee and cake at the top! You may need to take a long sleeved top to wear at the summit as it can be cooler than in the valley. And don't forget a camera to catch the fabulous view!! We ALWAYS do this walk when in Adelaide.

A GREAT WAY TO ENJOY A DRIVE UP TO THE HILLS OF ADELAIDE AND THEN ENJOY THE VIEWS OF THE CITY FROM THAT POINT. A RESTRAUNT AND TOURIST INFORMATION FACILITY IS THERE ALSO.
