Up to the Minute Historyby Yahoo | 2007-07-27 14:48:16 |

Great static displays and dioramas. Imax was exciting (Nile Movie) and the Planatarium is always interesting. Snack bar on the Veranda was convenient between exibits. Friendly staff and volunteers.

A Must Stop!by Yahoo | 2007-06-27 20:46:47 |

I've been to this, the newest Natural History Museum in the U.S., several times over the past few years. Check out the new "T-Rex Exhibit, and enjoy a walk through a living volcano, and ride aboard the incredible "evoulator," an elevator special effects machine that take you back through time. The I-max always has something interesting on it's "Big Screen!" For many, it is also a first opportunity to experience our universe via a Planetarium. Very educational. As for the negative comment that someone visited, and found a "The Sun is A Star" a bit simplistic...please remember that thousands of school kids are bused into the Natural History Museum each year from across New Mexico, and they have to provide appropriate levels of educational presentations. This is a most enjoyable attraction for "kids" of all ages. Especially if it's their first Natural History Museum. We're not Chicago or New York City afterall. :-) Thank God!

Lots of Funby Yahoo | 2006-12-04 15:24:26 |

Even my three year old twins had a great time. There is a nice hands on learning room that they totally got a kick out of. They still talk about "Crunch," the turtle that was out for his daily exercise.

4 Hours is not enough!by Yahoo | 2006-01-02 05:12:53 |

A fantastic experience, something for everybody. My second time to visit in 15 years and this time with children in tow. As always the kids each drifted to the area that interested them most and found enough to keep them busy. The mineral display, while small and tucked away, had some wonderful specimens. The extinction of the dinosaurs room was working this time through and the display helps to round out understanding why they died (but not mentioning the Dakkar Volcanics of India also found directly at the KT boundary, most curious). From studying the walls and the rock displays (by the movie entrance) one can conclude that New Mexico is about to explode at any moment! (lots of Igneous), but then I guess Limestone just doesn't flock the tourists in. I noticed that the displays seemed pretty much the same as they were in 1992 so I feel a new addition or two is needed, but still it was an outstanding stop. All in all a great stop!

Worth itby Yahoo | 2005-07-06 23:49:59 |

My husband and I took our two boys (10 + 8). They both enjoyed it. It is a very well done and great location. Old town, Art museum, Atomic Museum are all within walking distance.

This place needed more attractions! When I went, they had stuff like "The sun is a star." It was horrid!

This is a hit !!!by Yahoo | 2005-03-26 18:04:17 |

If you have the opportunity this is well worth anyone's time. There is something for all ages. It is well thought out. Large. Much larger than it appears from outside because of the creative use of space. The planetarium is GREAT. Buy a ticket and prepare yourself for an outstanding show. The employees are courteous. The facility is clean, well cared for.

Good experienceby Yahoo | 2005-03-11 19:45:51 |

This museum was a fun place to go - especially if you have kids. There were tons of hands on things to do and fun exhibits that will keep you entertained. There is a place where you can even watch fossils being worked on. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. It's not a huge museum, so unless you do have children, it will probably only take an hour max. There are special shows if you catch the museum at the right time.
