So it doesn't look like the route to your grandmother's house with its tunnels and bridges, but it is a terrific, fast-paced trail for biking, rollerblading, skiing, jogging or other training workout. This trail has a few moderate hills, enough to get your lungs going, and stretches between the Westchester Lagoon Overlook, past the University's Goose Lake and out to the Russian Jack Springs Park (16 miles round-trip route).Open Hours
Mo to Su from 12:00 AM to 12:00 AMMy mother-in-law suffers from a variety of health ailments and she has come to live with us (my wife and I) so she will not be alone. Exercise, of course, has a multitude of values both to the body and the mind. I live on the Chester Creek Greenbelt Trail, near the Sullivan Arena, and have found this trail to be an extremely convienent place for my mother-in-law and I to walk. The trail offers a variety of places to rest where one can take in the sights. With views of the Chugach range, several small lakes replete with water fowl, and plenty of pleasant fellow walkers, we have found the Chester Creek Greenbelt Trail to be the perfect place for our afternoon walks. In addition to the beauty of AlAskA surrounding the trail, the condition of the trail is also a wonderful thing. The evenly paved surface makes walking an easy and pleasurable experience for those with health difficulties. Also, the width of the trail allows for easy passing of bicyclists and joggers keeping everyone safe. I personnally use the trail for running and the mile/half mile markers are extremely helpful in measuring the distances I travel. With connections to the Coastal Trail and and to other dirt trails leading to the Campell Creek trail, the Chester Creek Greenbelt is a wonderfully centralized hub for anyone who enjoys getting outside on foot or on bike. Lastly, I'd like to urge anyone who plans to use the trail to help keep it clean. There are dozens of waste recepticals stationed periodically throughout the length of the trail and we should all do our parts in making sure they are used! Enjoy! Erik K.
