Great Tough Bikesby Yahoo | 2008-08-27 22:21:57 |

I've rented mountain bikes for two consecutive years now and have been very pleased. We let the owner know what we intended to do, and he fitted the best bikes he had to our needs. We loaded those bikes down and did some very serious trail riding. We had the bikes for 2 days on our overnight ride and they performed extremely well. We carried a full repair kit but never had to get it out. Having been a bike mechanic on several 1000+ mile rides and seeing the abuse that these bikes took, I must say I was impressed. I'll definitely be back to test the limits of those bikes again next summer!

Pleasantly Surprised.by Yahoo | 2008-08-20 20:37:35 |

After hiking the Chilkoot Trail, my wife and I had an extra day in Anchorage and decided to rent bikes and ride the Coastal Trail. We were pleasantly surprised by our experience with Downtown Bicycle Rental. The witty owner provided a quick yet thorough briefing complete with maps, written directions, and even photographs. The hybrid bikes were in excellent condition, well-tuned, with properly inflated tires (only $32 for two bikes!). We were also provided helmets and a repair kit with tire pump at no extra cost. The 11 mile Coastal Trail is a joy to ride (especially the return trip, which is mostly downhill). At one point we had to wait for a moose and her two calves to clear the trail. We had great fun and highly recommend Downtown Bicycle Rentals.

Pedal with Pete!by Yahoo | 2008-06-18 01:55:44 |

I had super, friendly service at Pete's shop! Got a great map and suggestions and was on my way in no time. I left my camera by accident in the pouch and Pete personally drove it over to my hotel that night. He's thorough and sensitive to guests. I'm in the hospitality business and he is what we call a "rock star" !! Go pedal with Pete!!

Rented bike for three hours to ride the trailby Yahoo | 2007-11-09 17:53:11 |

What a pleasant surprise, I finished the first half of my working day at 2:00 and I needed to be back to work at 6:00 PM. I saw an ad for the shop in a local paper and I walked towards the shop hoping to find a chance to get out instead of returning to my hotel room. I walked into the shop, was greeted by Pete. All I can say is that I had a great three hours and Pete offered a world of advice and support. Bottom line: He is a guy that doesn't want another bicyclists miss an opportunity and he was ready and willing to offer advice, a place to change (hung my shirt and tie on a bike sprocket),clothing for the weather, directions and a well equipped bike (in my case with studded tires for the icy parts on the trail). I look forward to my return trip. Thanks Pete for being down to earth and sup portative of those that need to do more than just visit souvenir shops.

Thanks for being there!by Yahoo | 2007-07-03 15:27:04 |

Pete provided great hybrid bikes for me and my hubby to ride around Anchorage for 2 consecutive days. He even gently hinted to hubby that cycling in long pants really isn't a good idea. Pete provided everything we needed to enjoy our time there. He's great at what he does. DBR is conveniently located and ask and you shall receive. We'll be back.

Best bike rental shop I've ever used, bar none!by Yahoo | 2007-06-29 17:05:18 |

Pete offers an unbeatable deal. I'm an airline pilot so I've seen a lot of bike rental shops. Good selection of bikes (cruisers to mountain bikes to nice road bikes) and virtually all the accessories you could possibly need; shoes for clipping in, gloves, helmet, repair kit, bungee cords, bottled water, a great map with suggested routes and sights to see. Add to that a great service attitude and one of the best cities in the world to ride with trails galore and you've got a perfect day on vacation (or layover for airline types). Highly recommend!! I'll be back.

To much to see, not enough timeby Yahoo | 2007-06-24 05:09:31 |

This is my third time to rent from Downtown Bike Rental, Pete the owner is great. Four of us rented bikes for 3 days and the last day we used the bikes on the Resurrection Trail from Cooper's Landing to Hope. We never experienced any problems with the bikes, had a great selection to choose from, great service, friendly and good prices, a must if you are going to rent bikes in Anchorage

Amazing road serviceby Yahoo | 2007-06-22 16:57:27 |

The service is terrific. Pete and his staff take the time to seriously match you and the bike for a comfortable and easy ride. All safety gear and a tool kit are part of the package. During the inbound leg of our 13-mile ride, the seat bolt fractured leaving me with no seat. Ever try to ride a 15-speed for any distance without a seat? Anyway, I called the shop on my cell phone and Pete said to hang tight. Ten minutes later he sped up on his Burley with a replacement seat. Half an hour later we rolled back into the shop where he was fitting another couple for bikes and helmets. By the way, he also sells various waters and soft drinks and yummy monster cookies.
