Don't Care About Customersby Yahoo | 2009-09-18 13:40:21 |

I had to cancel 24 hours before stay due to 5 hour life threatening surgery for my wife. They could not care less, charged my card $400 plus occupancy tax. No compassion, which I believe shows they don't care about their customers at all. I am moving to Aspen full time and could have put about $20k per year of revenues into their pocket by placing family and friends in their hotel rooms. Wont happen now. Even heartless airlines offer medical refund. Bad management.

Walked In & Loved Itby Yahoo | 2005-07-25 21:15:49 |

While traveling over Independence Pass, the wife and I decided to "stay a night" in Aspen. After trying to get accommodations without resevations and being treated like second class citizens and quoted exhorbitant rates to stay one evening, we finally stumbled into the Hotel Aspen. They made us feel at home. Although the hotel exterior is rather dated, the rooms were clean, staff was incredibly friendly and the breakfast and breakfast room was the bomb! Thumbs up to the staff who made us feel welcome in a town where other hotels seemed to want to take advantage.

Best Deal In Aspen!!!by Yahoo | 2005-07-25 20:54:25 |

The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable of the town. Rooms are not exceptional but are very comfortable. You definitely get more than what you pay for. Location is perfect...walking distance to everything downtown. Pool is big (for Aspen) and hot tubs great after a day of hiking. The free breakfast is great...something for everybody. I've seen bad reviews from other users but they seem to be the pretentious type. Hello, you are suppose to use broom handles or something of the sort for extra security on sliding glass doors...duh! An exterior corridor hotel in a resort town like Aspen is called a lodge not a motel like it would be in a city. Get out and travel more! And while you are at it check out the Hotel Aspen...it's got great value for a town like Aspen!!! I would not stay anywhere else!

Terrible Stay. Go Elsewhereby Yahoo | 2004-05-30 23:59:33 |

I had the displeasure of staying here over Memorial Weekend 2004. I requested a jacuzzi suite and after checking in found the jacuzzi not working. Front desk told me that management knew for 3 days that it was broken but checked me in and charged me for jacuzzi room anyway. After moving me to another room, found out this room's jacuzzi also didn't work. Next day entire building didn't have hot water. NONE of the pictures on hotels website look like any of the rooms. Both rooms I had were in desperate need to repair, from the old worn out carpet to the dirty tiles in the bathrooms. Sliding doors onto the filthy patios didn't even have locks, but instead broom handles placed in the door frame tracks. Take my advice and stay far far away from this hotel.

This hotel lacks some of the bells and whistles of more expensive places. The lobby is small and the doors of guest rooms face out like a glorified motel. But all in all I'd say we were very pleased with our stay in late march 2004 for a ski vacation. The rooms and suites are large. The pool area is nice. And the hotel provides a free breakfast, featuring a do-it-yourself waffle iron, and a free happy hour with beer, wine, and hot food that you can make an early dinner out of. We had a two room suite, giving my family a little area to spread out. We also had a kichenette. The biggest drawback was noise from the street. Many of the rooms are facing in direction that picks up some of the traffic from Main Street. The location is .4 miles from the gondola up Aspen mountain and one block from the bus stop to Snowmass and Buttermilk. Most of the attractions of Aspen are within a half mile.
