Hanging tough at its original location downtown, the Busy Bee is a hometown favorite for no-nonsense, down-home cooking. The locals outnumber tourists, a telling indicator of the Busy Bee's style. Red faux-leather booths line one wall, opposed by an old-time diner-style counter with red faux-leather-topped stools. No fancy "New Southern" pretenses here, just bona fide Dixie standbys like fried chicken, oxtails, smothered pork chops, fresh fried corn, greens, and candied yams. The marriage of soul food and Southern tradition is a happy one, and it comes pretty cheap, too.
