Overview
This local legend is billed as the world's largest drive-in and has been a staple on the Atlanta dining scene since 1928. Countless burgers, fries, shakes and more than two miles of hot dogs are served here every day, along with more Coca-Cola than anywhere else in the world. Dine in your car, seat yourself in one of the many cafeteria-style rooms, or simply order your greasy lunch at the 150-foot (46-meter) long stainless-steel counter and go. The white-tiled diner theme is a welcome throwback to days when drive-ins ruled the fast food scene.Open Hours
Su to Th from 10:00 AM to 11:30 PM, Fr to Sa from 10:00 AM to 12:30 AMI went to Varsity because I saw it on Foodtv. I ordered chili hotdogs and the bun was soggy and the chili looked very old. The customer service did not seem as friendly as foodtv described.
we going took kids ,because i heared about it. food was awful ,cost to much and nothing to do. family found it boring. would have rather went to Mc Donalds. service is about the only thing good. just don't eat there! better off eating some were else.
It was quite interesting I actually accidently came into this place. I saw so many people in there, and a two-story parking lot. I was curious enough to check it out without knowing its fame until later on from the internet. Burger was outstanding but the french fries was overcooked. The price was not expensive at all. For its long history, it is interesting to be there.
I am currently attending school at Georgia Tech, situated very near "The Varsity." I have gone once and will never return again, regardless of its convenience. This "landmark" seems to be one of those places that is famous just for being famous. The food is mediocre and most certainly overpriced. If Atlanta wishes to gain notoriety through embarrassment, it will continue recommending "The Varsity" as a "must see." Please don't waste your time.
Our family has had better meals at Mcdonalds and Wendys. The hot dogs are better at an actual Ball Game. I do not see why people enjoyed this place so much. This place needs to close up shop and not think about reopening.
The food here is terrible...totally not worth it. If you want a good chili burger you need to go to Tommy's Original in Los Angeles. The Frosted Orange is worth it and to see a famous place that has been expanded a million times....but stay away from the gross food that you will regret having hours later!!
I am from Rochster, NY and we have in our town places to eat that are very similar and are far better. If people in Atlanta think this is such a fine place to eat, than come up here and go to Tom Wahl's or Bill Grays local restaurnat chains and the food will knock your socks off compared to this joint. People of Atlanta, you are being riped off, come north and see what real hamburgers and hot dogs taste like.
The food was awful. Low quality and not fresh. The best thing about the whole restuarant was the artwork and newspaper articles on the wall. What ya' have....nothing!
Took the family there this weekend. They still have great food and a great atmosphere. Very busy but worth a trip to try one of their Chili Dogs and some rings. A little pricy where combos are about $6.50 and my wifes wings combo was $8.50. However you get a lot of food.
I like everything about the Varsity. The food is awsome and so is the service. I recommened this to anybody going to Atlanta. Go there for sure!
