Overview
Auckland Zoo has committed itself to improving the living quarters of New Zealand's largest collection of native and exotic animal species. Now you feel as though you are walking with the rare white rhinos on the Pridelands, swinging with the monkeys through the McDonald's Rain forest and almost swimming with the inhabitants of Hippo River. There are picnic facilities and a café. The zoo has many outreach and educational programs for both visitors and local groups and is available for corporate and private functions.Open Hours

I loved all the animals the lions, hippos and elephants were the favourites. If you go to Auckland you have to go there. During the week it is quiet but during the holidays it is busy.
I like about this place because there are alot of animals at your zoo for children and especially it's the closest zoo around auckland and the only zoo
Auckland Zoo is an awesome place to go for a day.it's a good price and has lots of exciting experiances during the day.by far the best place to be!
When you first arrive outside the zoo, it's a little disappointing, as it has such a small carpark and tiny entrance. But looks can be deceiving, the zoo was pretty big once we got inside. Animals looked heathy and happy.Got licked by a giraffe, which is always a bonus! Will be going back, goodcheap day out. Never paid for the map (which was good because it was so hard to read)!
Wow.. Have you ever been up close to a cheetah in a safe environment. I have no words to explain it apart from WOW and the loudness of their purr drowned out any thoughts I had. Keepers and guides are very informative, knowledgable, friendly and fun. It did'nt trully hit me till after we had left the enclosure. Stayed at the zoo for a while after zoom tour and if the cheetah weren't enough, we were walking along and there were 2 elephants walking round the zoo ground with keepers. Looking forward to doing another zoom tour in the future and am now interested in a yearly pass. Thanks for the best day.
Enjoyed going round zoo ,most animals looked well cared for and in interesting enclosures, but car park security was non-existent and help and advice poor after our car was broken into.
The whole zoo idea was really cool and is alos located at a convenient place. Good for an outing with the kids. I think the $2 for the map went to charity... the food court is nice, though diversity is a must. More activities must be organised. A map is essential though is not to scale... there are not many signs and directional arrows... Was good... try to go on a sunny day and dont forget your cameras.
I realy enjoyed it. Its fun and realy interesting. The place is in great conditions, the map is really helpful. I reconmend auckland zoo its a good day out.
This place is OK. I guess when you're a tourist you gotta do tourist things. Hey they serve beer so how bad is that? Go for the Lion Red I say. I don't know you see one lion you've seen them all. And monkeys...how annoying. You can meander amoungst the wallibees which is ok. Steer clear of the corn dogs. Vinnie Meehan -USA
Nice clean zoo, well spaced out, animals looked happy and well fed. Especially loved the giraffes, being at face level, which gave a different perspective to photograph. Enjoyable for both the young and elderly.
