Overview

Built in 1963 at the height of Barcelona's so-called period of "urban development architecture," this hotel is more practical than beautiful. The 15-floor building has a rectangular layout, a semi-circular reception area and a large glass front. The spacious and comfortable bedrooms share the building's modern style. Its central location makes it popular with businessmen, and it's also frequented by famous figures in the bullfighting world. On summer Sundays you often see bullfighters in their ornate suits leaving the hotel on their way to the ring. The hotel's restaurant, Essence, serves outstanding traditional Catalan cuisine.
