Overview

This popular modern tapas bar attracts a very mixed crowd, which comes here after movie shows at nearby cinemas. Choose from fillings for your tapas like grilled prawns, deep-fried squid rings, patatas bravas (spicy fried potatoes), toast spread with anchovies. Various types of Montaditos (tapas served on small slices of bread) are also available here. The place can get crowded easily so plan your visit accordingly.

Pinoys going to Spain, try Ciudad Contal and stay at the bar seats. The Pinoy waiters will take care of you with their hospitality. Great Seafood and Sangria! Look for Butch and his friends to help you with the endless choices of Tapas and desserts. I felt right at home!

Good food!!!by Yahoo | 2008-05-02 22:42:00 |

Some of the best food in Barcelona. Locals took us there and we all loved it! It doesn't open until 8pm, but most restauratns there don't open until 8pm.

The best in Barcelona!!!by Yahoo | 2008-04-17 21:58:52 |

While writing this review, I am here in my hotel room still salivating from the wonderful gustatory experience we've been enjoying for the past two days. Only on our second day here in Barcelona and have eaten there twice already. The best tapas ever!!! Fresh, good quality, very tasty and great concoctions of a wide variety of tapas. Our favorites are razor clams (grilled fresh and with garlic oil, served on shell), steak on bruschetta (rightly cooked, tender and juicy meat),grilled prawns on skewers, really delicious, and the best fried peppers, small whole, green peppers deep-fried and lightly salted, incredible!(i can't remember the name). We are staying in Barcelona for four nights, and we plan to eat there everyday. I have tried other tapas bar and all paled in comparison. Service is also fast and friendly. Even with the crowd, the staff are always efficient and gives great service.Don't leave Barcelona without trying the offerings of Ciudad Condal. You won't regret it!

Excellent!!by Yahoo | 2008-02-25 22:07:11 |

We are here for a 2 week business trip and have eaten here 3 times in 9 days. Excellent food. Try to come early and eat at the bar for a true tappas experince (you also have a better idea of what you are ordering). If you are at a table, have Edmund pick a selection for you...you can't go wrong. Wild mushrooms and asparagus are REDICULOUSLY deliciuos. Any of the sardine o anchovie tapas are outstanding as well. Edmund is great, other servers are spotty but not a reason to not try this place.

The best of the best !!!!by Yahoo | 2007-08-13 15:07:08 |

The "Ciudad Condal" is just off the main tourist "drag" but very central just 2 minutes walk from the Placa Cataluña. A cut above the rest and without doubt the best tapas bar in Barcelona. (so say the locals). Excellent variety of both hot and cold tapas and great draught beer. Our taxi driver (Adriana) recommended Condal to us. Full of Catalans and a few tourists. Eat in or on the terrace in the middle of the "Gran Via". Very reasonably priced, spotlessly clean, professional and attentive service, and a friendly atmosphere. If you go once, I promise you, you will go again.Try the patatas Bravas and the small peppers stuffed with a cod purée and cheese sauce. ENJOY !!!

Best Tapas in townby Yahoo | 2007-05-01 13:27:07 |

Very friendly - we had a 6 month old baby with us and it was no problem Super food and very good service - we kept spotting dishes on the way to other tables and grabbing our waiter to ask what they were and then order some Very busy, but we were not rushed despite a queue for tables Extremely reasonably priced too

Trendy and nice at the same time! Start your tapas experience in Barcellona from this place. They serve a wide range of tapas in a place with a glittering atmosphere. And the food is just excellent and not particularly expensive!

Went for 1 glass of wine - still there hours later!by Yahoo | 2006-03-22 15:52:06 |

Great atmosphere, great wine, great tapas - full of locals! Thanks to the shop assistant who recommended Ciudad Condal - if I lived in Barcelona I'd spend every Firday night there!

I owe the cobbler who recommended this place to me a beer and a tapa. This was a fantastic place to meet with friends or to make new ones. Everyone is welcoming and the food and drink are second to none. I will never go to Barcelona and not stop by this place.

See my review of Tramoia and you will understand. Tramoia is just on the other side of the crossroads. Funny that the best and the worst restaurant (at least of the about 15 we tried) are just 50 meters apart.
