Overview

The distinctive rectangular structure of the Neue Nationalgalerie (New National Gallery) was designed by Mies van der Rohe in 1968. The museum houses a wide collection covering most of the 20th Century's most significant movements. Included are works by Expressionists like the Brücke Group (see Brücke Museum), New Functionalists such as Otto Dix and George Grosz; Bauhaus art by the likes of Paul Klee and Oskar Schlemmer as well as works from the post-war era including a number by Pablo Picasso. The museum is also host to many highly renowned temporary exhibitions.
