Overview

Although Firkin pubs are becoming too common these days, with far too many springing up in unattractive locations, this is a good example of the type and one of Birmingham's most well established. It has a canal-side location, near the NIA, and is frequented most by young people lured by the marketing, cheap food and strong beer. Comfort is limited as the usual Firkin furniture is in abundance - how did anyone think sitting on unforgiving wooden stools at a huge wooden barrel would induce customers to stay for more than an hour? But it is lively, and the atmosphere is usually very good.
