Overview

This is the ideal park for the entire family, offering a variety of facilities including boating lakes, playgrounds, tennis courts, tropical greenhouses and nature conservation areas. It is also the home of the Midland Arts Centre. A walking/bicycling route winds through the grounds that has recently been extended. The park also plays host to a variety of concerts, performances and the annual Fireworks Fantasia. Admission to the park is free.

great day outby Yahoo | 2008-03-23 16:12:01 |

I love cannon park. I've been there many times with my children over the years. You can stop off in the cafe for something to eat, or even take your own picnic when the weather's nice. Let the kids burn off some energy at the play area, and watch the wildlife around you. I've been there on many occasions when activities have been put on for kids during the holidays, so it's great for a cheap day out to keep them amused. The best part overall is the animal area though. That costs money even though the rest of the park is free, but it's definitely worth it. There's pigs, guinea pigs, rabbits and birds in the petting area, as well as somewhere to sit and rest for a minute or 2, but when you go into the main animal area, there's the snake house, otters, wildcats a other animals too. Overall it gets top marks off me for a great day out on a budget.
