Overview

Warwick is known as the finest medieval castle in England. Located a 30-minute drive from Birmingham, it encapsulates over 1000 years of English history. There are ramparts, battlements and even a dungeon and torture chamber: all absolutely authentic and in excellent condition. Displays include medieval weaponry and a waxwork display of a weekend party circa 1898. The grounds, including Peacock and Rose gardens, are especially popular. Numerous events are held each year, including the Medieval Festival, Flight of the Eagle and Meet the Castle Craftsmen.

Yank meets Midevilby Yahoo | 2007-01-25 22:32:09 |

My visit was May 2006: I loved it all the atmosphere of the Midevil period, the school children watching jesters or bows man in the lawn in front of the Castle. The whole experience was just breath taking. I am from the US, and it was my first time in England, I couldn't get enough of it all,the history alone just eat me alive. I loved it. I could live there, in the Cotswalds, the villages; so quaint, so friendly, I can still taste the Trickle Pudding, I think I missed spelled that word! I will be back, soon I hope. I loved your Queen, the whole idea of Royalty seems like a fantasy, I can't imagine life one thousand years ago in England, my station in life would be of a house maid, or field hand, not one of luxury or pleasure, but it sure is fun thinking about it all. Thanks for preserving the lovely Warwick Castle. TJRaney

So Awesome! So Fun!by Yahoo | 2005-08-30 20:56:39 |

What a great place to visit! I have been to England twice and when I went to Warwick Castle this first time, I liked it so much, I went back again on my second visit. You feel like you've stepped back in time when you enter this magnificent fortress. It may seem a little pricey because of the exchange rate (If you're from America), but overall it's worth it. Plan to spend most of your day here. There are places to eat, but they can be expensive, so pack a lunch and eat on the hills outside the caslte to save money, or walk to a local pub in Warwick town. The souveniers in the gift shop are really nice and most are priced quite reasonably. Make sure you purchase some postcards to send to your friends back home!!! Warwick Castle has some of the most beautiful postcards I've ever seen for 1 - 2 pounds each. My friends and family loved getting them. Make sure you see everything (don't forget the rose gardens - they are kind of hidden, but very beautiful) and take LOTS of pictures!
