Overview

Located at the Crestline Center in Mountain Brook, La Paz offers an elegant version of Mexican cuisine in a casual atmosphere. The décor is that of an upscale Mexican cantina featuring pastel colored stucco walls, which are decorated with Mexican folk art. The menu features many traditional Mexican dishes prepared in fresh and creative ways. The service is excellent, and there is an extensive wine and tequila list.

We visited earlier this summer for an early dinner. Although the restaurant was crowded, we were seated fairly quickly. The music was loud and small children nearby were screaming. We were given chips and our drink orders, then we waited and waited and waited. . . for a server, but none arrived. We finally gave up and left, deciding the place is too popular and that we'd try again another time. My office ordered lunch (on my recommendation) from La Paz recently. Our waiter was inattentive and got the order wrong, and the food was extremely salty and unpalatable. I've decided to give this place a miss from now on.

First we called ahead for seating and when we got there we still had to wait another 15minutes. Also the food was good but it was not great. I could have gotten a similar experience for cheaper at another mexican restaurant.
