Overview

Nestled in the North End, this popular park rises like a camel's sandy hump in the high desert. To really appreciate the park, bring your walking shoes and get your heart rate up with a vigorous hike to the top. It stretches out below you from the tree-lined North End streets to the prairie like desert and craggy Owyhee Mountains in the distance. After your climb, grill some burgers and play a set of tennis at the public courts. If you've had enough activity, relax on the green lawn and watch Frisbee-loving dogs show off.

Great Hike n a Great Viewby Yahoo | 2008-02-06 08:38:40 |

I hiked it Spring of 07 with my son and two young granddaughters(3,8). They went up no problem. Since I'm so out of shape it took me awhile especially since I had my camera backpack on.Good excuse...What a great feeling after I made it to the top. The view is amazing. Redid the hike in summer with husband and same son and Gds. Husband even thought it was a great place. We also saw football players training by running sprints as far as they could go up the mountain. A little too much energy for me. I plan on climbing CamelBack each time I go back to Boise. Wish there was something like that here.In addition, the children's play area is a lot of fun and has a variety of playgroung equipment for young children. A beautiful park to enjoy....

FANTASTIC!by Yahoo | 2007-08-27 03:19:14 |

My husband, 2 beagles and I went to Camel Back Park on Sunday 8/25,2007. We decided to try to hike up to the very top of the hill! I am 60 and he is 66 and we made it all the way and beyond. I have an illness and usually am not able to do something so strenous but I was determined I was going to go the entire way to the top and I did it! it took me some time but it was worth the trip! What a beautiful 360* view of Boise. We will do this again in the near future! Anyone who comes to Boise area should go there and do the hike. The park itself is pretty and a great family park.
