Also known as Place Royale, this is a perfect example of Bordeaux architecture at the end of the 18th Century. This is a beautiful line of archways and slate roofs, with an impressive fountain in the center - a setting made even more magnificent when it is lit up at night. There is a superb view of the Garonne river's right bank from this square. In Bordeaux there are a few architectural features. This is one of them. The key part is the play between this and Le 'Miroir d'eau' which creates a mirrored effect hen silently and generates a mist at all times of the day to create a completely different romantic or sometimes even eerie effect on the place.
Place de la Bourse isn't a destination in itself, but part of the overall experience of seeing the beauty of Bordeaux. I believe it is the most beautiful spot in the city and a great place to take a break and relax. The city of Bordeaux is a World Heritage Site, and this place is one of the most stunning examples of why Bdx was chosen as one.
Marvelous example of late XVIII arquitecture, but everyone has said that!. One must go there and see it and what makes it even better is across the street from this precious place ( all hand made of course) there is the river lined with gardens and exactly infront of the Royal Place, what they call here the 'Water Mirror" kids play there and adults just marvel at the beauty of this .... fountain without a spout or visible faucet , only water taht slowly rises and then one sees the spouts and they slowly ebbing away as the tide. The Stock Exchange Place , or 'Place de la Bourse' is not a noble name for this wonderful place which truly should be called La Place Royale.
Oh My Gosh it was boring. This is nothing to do except stare at things. Won't be going back though the rest of Bordeaux is alright
it was so boring seeing a stuped thing trust me it looks better in the picture than in real life omg it was so lame
As with all of Bordeaux, this place has some stunning buildings and fountains. However there isn't really much to actually do here, but it is only a short walk to the shops in the town centre.
Place de la Bourse is my favourite part of old Bordeaux with its stunning and impressive 18th century architecture. It's very elegant and looks wonderful when it's lit-up at night. To the credit of the Mairie and the Mayor of Bordeaux, the square has been refurbished and the fountain will be reinstalled in September. Nearby, there's the lovely Place du Parlement with its trendy cafes, bars restaurants and patisseries (oh, and another fountain !) There's even a couple of English pubs nearby for those not wanting to be totally immersed in the French way of life. It's easy to get to on a line 'C' tram which stops in Place de la Bourse, or it's a short walk from line A at Quinconces. The river is a stones throw away. I can't wait to return!
