Overview

Within Museum of Science are a planetarium, an IMAX movie theater and a two-story Van de Graaf generator, capable of producing 2.5 million volts of electricity. These and the hundreds of other exhibits make this museum one of Boston's top attractions. Hatching chickens, a comparative brain exhibit and a math and statistics room are educating and entertaining.

Great place to take a toddler on a snowy dayby Yahoo | 2009-01-12 16:18:10 |

The butterfly garden is a great place to visit on a snowy day. The cafeteria has a great view of the river. Nice place to take a toddler. Best value is with membership.

Pretty good!by Yahoo | 2008-12-28 20:57:42 |

I LOVED this museum. We were pretty stupid and went on a saturday during winter vacation, so it was BUZY. We didn't get to really do a lot of stuff there, but what we could do and see was amazing. We went with a group of 4 people in our 20's and all of us had a great time. So this museum is not just for kids! It was kinda expensive, it was $19 for each adult for just the exhibits. We also saw the IMAX which was $4.50 per person. The exhibits were really cool, there were a ton of activities for everyone to do. The IMAX was awesome too. I recomend getting into line for shows, activities, ect way early if it is buzy. We got into line at the IMAX 20 minutes early and we still got bad seats (lower left hand corner). The only thing I didn't like about it was the main focal point in the shots jumped around the screen, so you were constantly forced to look all over this big screen (which probally would not happen if we had better seats). I would recomend going to see the show though. There is also a Van De Graff generator show (at 12, 2, and 4 the day we went). I must warn you though that it is VERY loud in the room when they do the shows. I recomend sitting down way before the show if it is buzy. We went in there 25 minutes before the show started, and we were forced to stand behind the generator, so we didn't get to see very much of the show. None the less it was pretty awesome. I want to go back again to visit but I want to go on a day that is less buzy so I can see and do more. I recomend that you spend a whole day there, because of how much there is to see and do. We spent from about 12 to about 5:30 and didn't get to see half of it! I totally recomend this to any one, even if you are not into science.

A great way to spend a day or moreby Yahoo | 2008-11-10 16:36:21 |

The Museum of Science in Boston has something for everyone. There are many hands-on exhibits that kids and adults love to play with. There are dinosaurs, hatching chicks, live butterflies that land on you, an electricity show, and all sorts of other interesting things to see and do. The Omni theater and planitarium always have interesting shows. The special exhibits are fun. I've been to ancient Egypt, watched a 95 mph pitch fly by my face (Baseball exhibit), seen dragons, mermaids, Yeti, (Mythical creatures exhibit) and all sort of other things. The current exhibit on fear has a lot of hands on activities. Some exhibits remain largely the same, but others are special, temporary exhibits. The IMAX movies and the shows at the planetarim are always changing. Whether you're a person interested in Science, or if you just want to be entertained, you'll find something to perk your interest here. A great way to spend a day or more while in Boston.

Membership is a must!by Yahoo | 2008-10-27 14:11:07 |

We've had a Family Membership for several years now, and it is so worth it! The five of us go at least twice a year, and so - between general admission and special exhibit hall fees - we save well over $150 each year. The kids especially love the "Science of the Playground" and interactive virtual fish tank sections and the 3-D theater. The only two problems we've really had are that (1) a few of the more hands-on exhibits have been "out of service" for quite some time, and (2) the T station near the MOS is not handicapped accesible. Overall, though, this is a great place to bring any child with an inquiring mind - and what kid doesn't have one of those!

Needs to be updatedby Yahoo | 2008-08-02 03:21:52 |

I was there with my family, including a teen. The exhibits seem to need to be updated. I haven't been there for a couple of years but honesty it doesn't seem to have changed. The focus seems to be more on the shows which are okay. I just remember there being more exciting stuff to see and do like when the egypt shows were there. There are other museums in Boston I'd go to instead like the art museum on the harbor. My kids were bored. They need to pay more attention to what they are now offering.

Don't botherby Yahoo | 2008-06-13 02:05:14 |

The exhibits are old, need replacement. The whole place seems run down and in need of money. I haven't been here for a while and don't remember it looking shabby 5 years ago. What's left is cool but where is the new stuff?

I loved itby Yahoo | 2008-02-25 14:19:31 |

the only bad thing was the parking. We got there at 1:30 and the parking was jammed. It took us about ten munites to find a spase about half a mile away.

not a great museumby Yahoo | 2007-06-27 17:58:48 |

This is a great museum for little kids, but anyone older than 15 would not like this place. The Omni theater is great, but otherwise the museum is boring and doesn't even have a real dinosaur! I have been to much better museums than this...very dissapointed
