Overview
Steeped in history, this is one of Boston's most beautiful neighborhoods. Always the home of statesmen, artists and intellectuals, "The Hill" is also the site of the State House, which is the beginning of the Freedom Trail. Cafes and majestic brownstone buildings line the narrow cobblestone streets next to the Boston Common, America's oldest urban park. At the bottom of the hill, along Charles Street, are several antique shops and boutiques full of unusual merchandise. This charming neighborhood has managed to preserve its history without becoming artificially quaint. Another important and most visited feature of Boston is Acorn Street. The street is surrounded by beautiful colonial style houses, giving it an earthy feel, which will import you to the era gone by.Open Hours

We accidentally had the pleasure of viewing Beacon Hill while lost in Boston. I have never seen anything like it. The streets are well maintained, the architecture is spectaculor and looks like a scene out of a movie. The tree lined streets, the cobblestone, the well maintained and decortive houses to the people walking the street.... it feels like a home away from home. Probably one of the most comfortable areas of Boston. You do not feel rushed, closed in here. Tucked away on the corner is a Starbucks..which is always a plus in my book too :) The commons is situated here as well and from the looks of things on the outside.... provides an even greater treasure to this area. Just beautiful!
This has got to be one of the most beautiful places in Boston. We stumbled upon it while driving into the city one day. Luckily we found a parking spot and were able to get out and walk. Beacon Hill is like the Twighlight Zone. It is a utopia in the middle of a huge city. The streets are lined with trees, gorgeous east coast architechtural style houses, big windows with flower boxes and everything is well-kept. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. I could not believe how amazing this place was and that I was actually there. It is so full of history as well. So much to do and see there. There is no need to visit the Cheers bar on the outskirts of Beacon Hill after you visit the heart within. I would suggest taking the train, a cab or a shuttle in as parking is very limited and usually requires a resident pass. Also wear good walking shoes. You could spend an entire day there walking, taking pictures, touring, eating and shopping. This is one thing you have to experience because pictures do not do this place justice.
