Overview

Right on the side of the water, just a 15 minute walk from the city centre along the docks, this place is at its best in the summer months, when people enjoy their pints sitting in the sun, legs dangling over the quayside. The clientele is very mixed, which adds to its charm, and many come for a meal as well as a drink—their pub grub, such as haddock and chips, vegetable bakes, pies, filled rolls etc. is very popular. There's a pub (The Pump House) directly opposite across the water—watch out for the occasional drunkard make the hazardous swim to the other side, only to be intercepted by the harbour-master in his dinghy!

Open Hours

A very pleasant afternoonby Yahoo | 2005-07-09 17:07:53 |

I have just returned from a very pleasant afternoon down at Bristol Docks, where we lunched and drank in The Cottage, Cumberland Basin. I had plump, juicy prawns in a seafood sauce with salad and big fat chargrilled potato wedges. The hubby had a delicious homemade Steak and Ale Pie. Both were lovely and great value too, nicely rounded off with a couple of pints of well kept Bristol Ale. Afterwards we sat outside and watched the boats go by, before catching the very convenient ferry (the stop is outside The Cottage!) to the other side of the docks for a bit of shopping.
