Bristol has a bit of a passion for all things glass - it's in our history, you see. At one time, back in the 1700s, the city's landscape was characterised by conical glass-making kilns and the glass industry provided the city with some of its wealth. So, for a truly authentic souvenir, visit here. It's packed with exclusive, handmade stained glass and lead crystal items. There are exquisite stained-glass lampshades, which give out a gorgeous warm glow, plus tableware, mirrors, paperweights etc. Look out in particular for Bristol Blue Glass - this dark blue glass began production in the 17th century and is still made locally today at premises just 15 minutes walk away, where you can watch it being created. There's also Cranberry Exmoor Glass, Bath Aqua Glass and items from individual craftspeople.
