Overview
This imposing square was built for the 1896 millennium celebrations. It is dominated by the Archangel Gabriel who is surrounded by seven statues representing the chiefs of the seven Magyar tribes who settled in this area (supposedly in AD 896). The large open space is dedicated to the Hungarian war memorial and attracts tourists, skateboarders and inline skaters by the dozens. Check out the recently restored art museums on either side of the square.Open Hours
Mo to Su from 12:00 AM to 12:00 AMi realy thought that the city had so much to offer, the local transport was very good. the buildings have so much history to them, the people where friendly.if you try and learn a few words of hungarian before you go it will help because not everyone can understand english. and the food is great, anyone that goes should try the local cusine, my 2 top places were hero sqaure and a old turkish bath not far from the sqaure, over all fantastic!!!
It is a very serene and beautiful place, centrally located. The high up angel is the best...must see for anybody who visits the city. It lookks the best during evening hours..there are great areas of interest around it as well.
Hero's Square is a very beautiful place. The statues are massive and very cool. The Arc Angel above the all of them is very high up. This place is great for tourists and large square can accomidate very large amounts of people without feeling cramped.
For anyone who is interested in learning the history of this great country, just listen to one of the many guides at this fabulous square. For those not historically minded, just wonder at the statues mounted aloft. And it is not just this square, there are so many other things of interest nearby.
