Overview

One of the most beautiful towns on the Danube, Szentendre sits at the edge of the famous Danube bend. The town existed in Roman times (known as the 'Wolf Camp'), but there were also other influences: it was resettled after Turkish occupation by Serbs, Greeks, Dalmatians, Germans and of course Hungarians. You can get here by car, by boat  or by HEV train.

The food was decen and the people were very accommodating, but its basically a Hungarian version of Plimoth Plantation (Pilgrim's settlement in Plymouth, MA USA). A bunch of houses and shops where Hungarians used to live and produce goods for the village. I'm in my late 20's and I found it pretty boring, however families with young children would appreciate it more. There are festivals, games, barnyard animals, arts and crafts and lost of space to run around. From Budapest we had to take a train (all the way to the end of the line - about 45 minutes), then we hopped an extremely crowded bus for another 30 minutes to get there. Unless you're a big history fanatic, if you are in your 20's, I wouldn't recommend going here.
