Overview
Founded in 2001 and started with just the permanent collection owned by its director, Eduardo Constantini, MALBA aims at promoting Latin American art in all its disciplines. Constantini donated to this post-modern gallery works of art that take us on a journey through the history of Spanish American art, from the beginning of its avant-garde movement at the turn of the century to the present. The collection is arranged in such a way to expose the similarities as well as the differences between the artists, other than in chronological order. There are workshops, children activities, temporary exhibitions and work experience for students. Own car park. Free admission.Open Hours

We loved the museum. Great collections and mix of artists. The bookstore is not to be missed. Great gift shop. Restaurant has excellent food, OK service.
MALBA is a small gem of a gallery located close to Retiro. Be sure to visit the small museum shop to get some modern Buenos Aires design with you. The museum restaurant has a great kitchen and try out Argentine beef with a Merlot from their wine collection. Oh… ask for a side dish of their supreme creamed spinach as well!
This cultural center constantly updates art and film exhibitions and develops cultural activities. It includes also the Costantini Collection that consists of a selection of more than two hundred works, including drawings, paintings, sculptures and objects by 78 artists from different parts of Latin America. The mission of Malba is to collect, preserve, research and promote Latin American art from the onset of the 20 th century to the present. This also involves educating the public to foster their knowledge in Latin American artists, in the diversity of cultural and artistic holdings in this region, sharing such responsibility both with the national and the international community. These objectives are achieved by the promotion of the most important national and international artists, by the promotion of the knowledge in Latin American art, by the creation of an overall program in educational services, and by the promotion of professional curatorial practice.
Latin America doesn't have many private museums. The MALBA opened only few years ago and it has become one of the best museums in Buenos Aires. It's a must see museum!
The collection is limited but includes at least one or two works by the most outstanding Latina American arstists: Rivera, Kahlo, Matta, Botero, Obregon, Lam, Berni, Xul Solar, de la Vega, among others. Also includes temporary exhibits by younger artists. Worth a visit. They also offer great film series.
Excellent, very complete, great atmosphere!...a must see! It is in a lovely neighborhood too
