Rest and Relaxationby Yahoo | 2008-12-04 11:16:33 |

Sol Mar isn't the most modern hotel in the world, however it has a certain feel to it. The staff has been a 9 or 10 consistently and even though its around a mile from town, it's perfect. They have a HUGE private stretch of beach and it it THE only hotel right on the very tip of Baja. This will be our third year and we are jazzed to go everytime.

Nightmareby Yahoo | 2008-09-07 03:03:27 |

View perfect... Pool great... FOOD BAD...SERVICE BAD... BAR THE WORST... Slip and fall and manager hides...pumping bad you can't change your room... I can't believe i wasted me time I should of packaged my bags and left... Do not waste your money on over price food over priced drinks (made wrong) Nightmare only one waiter deserved a tip and the dinner cook each plate 60 and at least the chef could cook. Eat in town not at their Romeo Juliet that was another waste of a romantic date. What ever you do don't rental a car (thrifty) in Cabo use a taxi or walk.

Displeasedby Yahoo | 2008-05-29 20:34:43 |

Was not happy about this hotel, nowhere close to the main part of town. The service was below my standards and you can't even play in the water next to the hotel do to riptides. all in all was not happy and would not recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely!by Yahoo | 2008-05-14 03:46:18 |

Have stayed at the Solmar several times and will again. The breeze coming from the ocean is outstanding. You fall asleep just yards from where two oceans meet. How often does that happen in a lifetime?

Wonderful Every Year!by Yahoo | 2008-02-17 21:01:58 |

I bought a time share at the Solmar back in 1997 and have been back every year. I have stayed at a few other resorts in Cabo but Solmar has my heart. The staff is very friendly, great quiet location with Cabo nearby, just a very wonderful place to stay.

Good Timesby Yahoo | 2007-07-26 04:38:02 |

Right off the bat we got a postcard picture with our camera as we gazed through the lobby out to the pool/ocean view. The front desk staff was very nice. The location of the room was awesome since we had both a pool and ocean view. You can fall asleep at night to the sounds of the crashing waves if you leave the sliding glass door open. The place was immaculate. We saw a lady cleaning the concrete sidewalk with a mop?! And another guy climbing a wrought iron fence just to detail it with a sponge. It was the little details like that that have kept the place in great shape for its age. The furniture was somewhat dated but i guess it fit the mexican/beach theme. the bed was comfy. we received a newspaper every morning. the pools were good times. we spent our first afternoon at the smaller of the two pools and had some lunch that was "off the chain" (excellent). the bartender was cool as a fan and made some mean margaritas. i only had about 5 but they put me on my butt. downside was we were so hammered from the drinks and pool we missed our first night out. mostly a late 30's -40's crowd but there were some younger folk and families. The location of the hotel was good. only about a 15 minute walk to the main section of the marina where they have shops and dining. The only issues i had with the hotel was the shower drained slow(who cares) and everytime we left, the security gaurd at both the lobby and kiosk would ask us what room number we were stayin in. I couldnt help but think that they were calling their buddies on the radio to let them know the coast was clear and we were out of the rooms. I swear someone moved our things our first night but i guess ill never know for sure. Overall we had an excellent vacation at Sol Mar and would definately come back.

Heaven at the tip of Bajaby Yahoo | 2007-07-10 11:35:59 |

It was supposed to be the romantic trip down baja in a motorhome but I got separated at a gas station in Catavina, the owner took me and my dog in for the night, but the next day no motorhome. I couldn,t take the bus no dogs, so we hitchiked, me and Pooh. I got picked up by ab 18 wheeler, 1st time hitchiking, they took me to La Paz, I had to walk to the airport- didn,t have shoes, rented a car and continued to Cabo san Lucas. While looking for my ex, I had to stay somewhere, I choose the Solmar, the tip of paradise, where people meet from all over the world. I was scarred, but the ambiance of the Solmar soothed my weary soul. This was 25 yrs ago, when the hotel was small, I just have to go back and see it again with the right credit card & no federalies, but that,s another story. The ex is ex, but the Solmar lives on in my heart. allingoodtimetoots@yahoo.com See you at the Solmar one day! You won't forget it, the beauty of the beach the stars at night, the people you meet over a drink or dinner. Have fun, I'll be thinking of you.

Our Honeymoon Tripby Yahoo | 2006-10-18 16:52:24 |

Solmar Suites was the perfect place for a honeymoon. It is quiet but still very close to everything. We walked to downtown and the marina to do nearly everything that we had planned. The room was clean, and the staff was very helpful. The setting was just beautiful and very romantic. The only negative was that the hotel could not locate our reservation when we arrived. Thankfully, they were not booked up, so we got a room with no trouble, but it took until the third day of our stay for them to clear this up.

Still the bestby Yahoo | 2006-07-05 17:43:09 |

Five times over the last three years and no problems. Cabo however is changing fast. I fear it will have the same issues as Cancun very soon. Too many kids left alone by their parents to do what ever they want.
