This is a great place to snorkel~it's calmer than Chileano Bay. Take tortillas in a ziplock bag to chum the wide variety of fish. We saw lots of dorado, sergeant-at-arms, urchins, an eel and pufferfish. Go in the morning as it gets choppier in the afternoon. If you're driving, take snacks and drinks as concessions are very limited.

I love this beached as I haved visited it over the last few years. Never disappoints me. If youre bored go climb the hill on the side and youll get a great view of the whole sourrounding area.

I booked this trip through the cruise line. I had done this trip one time before and this is defiantly more bang for your buck. the crew on the catamaran is awesome and after snorkeling it is all you can eat and "DRINK" on the way back to town. The one thing I did notice it has been 6 years since I snorkeled this cove and the sealife has changed. Not as many Parrot fish and less neons. the damage caused by humans is evident. Still a great trip. I recommend this even if you have never snorkeled before. It is amazing. Fun Fun Fun.

The beach was absolutely gorgeous and one of the few that is swimmable in Cabo. The snorkeling was amazing! Saw so many brightly colored fish! It was the highlight of my trip to Cabo!

Every time we are in Cabo, we make sure to spend at least one day at this beach! It is quite a walk from the "parking area" and the pebble like sand makes walking interesting...keep sandals on, they fill up--take them off and the pebbles wear your feet till they are sore! Once you finally do get to your spot on the beach, it is wonderful! Our favorite area is over by the rocks--farthest away. Bring a cooler with some water and lots of snacks, because you will want to spend the whole day here! Snorkling is good too, for more experienced because of the reef. Absolutely a must-see!

Santa Maria is a great [lace to hung out with your family. The beach is not crowded, it is clean and the waves is great. Place is great for snorkeling.

I read about this beach while on our cruise ship. We only had 6-8 hours in the port of cabo, but I was determined to see this beach. We rented three mopeds in town and thought we would take a ride over the this beautiful Bahia Santa Maria. People kept looking at us crazily when I asked them how to get to this beach. (I do speak spanish) I finally figured out that the only way to get there was to get on the highway that goes from cabo to san jose del cabo. We decided to go for it. The only thing that saved us were the frontage roads for some of the trip and there was not that much traffic that day. The top speed of the mopeds could not have been more than 40 miles per hour, especially since there were two of us on each one. Feeling the wind of a huge truck fly past us was scary, exciting and fun all at the same time. I still can't believe we did it. We finally got there and it was so worth the trip after we saw the beach. The only problem was we had barely enough time to get back to cabo to board the ship. We were on the beach maybe a total of ten minutes. The biggest glitch was that driving on the sandy dirt road from the highway to where you leave your vehicle is super deep and dangerous. Sure enough my daughter and her male friend lost control of the moped in the sand and landed on their butts. Their legs were all scratched up and the damage to the moped cost us about $150. Luckily a taxi was just leaving the beach back to cabo so we through the girls in there and us guys rode the moped back into town. Please do not do this. For the cost of the three mopeds, I could have rented a van and gotten there and back safe and sound. In a couple of days (dec 15th to Dec20th) we will be returning to cabo. We can hardly wait to see santa maria beach again except under better circumstances.

I love this place because is a nice little cove with a beautifull scenery and crystal clear water. The water was calm, whereas in other beaches there were big waves because of a recent tropical storm that came close to Los Cabos. Great for snorkeling, you can avoid spending 35USD for the tour by going there (do not rent googles and fins at the beach, too expensive, you can rent them at the marina for half the price) with a piece of bread to feed the fish from your hands. Be careful when you swimm next to the reef, even though the cove is protected, bigger waves may sneak in, but this is true every where in the world when swimming next to a reef especially if you do not see a life guard. Rememeber that is Pacific OCean/Sea of Cortes not swimming pool!!!

i was there for ten minutes only. time enough for a huge wave to come and roll me over the rocks. feet, knees, hips, torso, and head injuried severely, bleeding copiously, pain. i didn't notice any warning advice, any red flag waving, nothing. everything look so paceful. Please, make the authorities put warning flags and advices to inocent swimmers. just imagine your little ones playing on the sand. a week before my accident a young woman died almost for the same reason. she was just walking on the beach. don't let people be tricked for the beautiful landscape!
