Overview

A long-time favorite with tourists and locals for traditional Egyptian fare, the casual atmosphere and reasonable prices makes this chain an ideal place to sample the country's specialty dishes. The licensed chain is famous for its fuul and taamiya, offering dozens of varieties and all served with freshly baked baladi bread. Also notable is its creamy and garlicky baba ghanoug, one of the best in Cairo. Meat is prominent on the menu, but the management has taken care to include a good selection of vegetarian dishes. Try the vegetable casserole or spicy mousakka. For the same great food at a fraction of the price, try the selective menu at Felfela Takeaway around the corner on Talaat Harb Street.

      Unfriendly staff - and really bad food!!by Yahoo | 2010-01-03 19:09:25 |

Waiters in restaurant were rude, unable to answer any questions about the menu, rushed everyone to order and then took forever to serve our food...our food was beyond horrible, seemed like they served us the leftovers from that night...will never ever come back to this restaurant again!

      Authentic Egyptian Foodby Yahoo | 2009-07-10 21:52:44 |

The restaurant is downtown within walking distance of many hotels. The waiters speak Spanish and english among other languages. They offer typical Egyptian food that you cannot find in other restaurants. You can pick and choose between cheap and expensive dishes .

      total rip offby Yahoo | 2007-11-17 09:39:31 |

i am an egyptian and yes i've always seen tourists there. why? it beats me. it is the kind of restaurant were u can find spit and hair in your food. if that's ok with u then that's ur place. if you want to go to a good egyptian restaurant this definetly not it. To add, people there are not friendly if you dun givem a tip. I also invite everybody to complain about their food or service atleast once to put their friendliness to the test (they totally fail). this place would have totally closed down if it wasn't for the misguided tourists. It is rare when i see an egyptian there except the ones who will go 4 cheap food

      Reveiwby Yahoo | 2007-09-26 20:05:02 |

I liked this place although i found a hair in my dinner. Which was quite dispointing.. but i ate it anyways.! People who like stinky smells would like this restaurant

Looked better than it wasby Yahoo | 2007-09-20 12:14:45 |

Bumping into it by accident, as Felfel is the egyptan word for my boyfriends nick name Pepper but inside we were very disappointed about unpersonal service -if at all- busy ambiance and the food. Fun to go there once, but no more for me

      A Tourist Trapby Yahoo | 2006-11-09 12:18:32 |

I have been to Felelah several times. The food is mediocre and the ambiance is good for first time tourists. If you are lookign for good Egyptian food, this is not it.It is kid friendly and tourist companies use it frequently.

      visit to restaurantby Yahoo | 2006-03-17 12:06:09 |

Staff are great with children, although once they have served you and you have paid you leave and they never say good bye. I love the food and go every year when I visit Cairo.

      Many meals in felfelaby Yahoo | 2006-02-14 20:07:18 |

I lived in the Le Meridian Hotel, next to Felfela for two years and spent many a wonderful night in Felfelas, the food is great, the service could be better, but then again it is Egypt. Try the "meat in paper" and the chicken livers with suace. The guys there are friendly and the general feeling is excellent. Baba Ganu & Humis are excellent starters. I'll return soon.
