Overview
Although some of downtown Calgary's office towers are actually taller, the Calgary Tower remains the city's most distinctive landmark. Officially opened in 1968, it remains a popular visitor attraction, providing a panoramic view of the mountains to the west and the surrounding foothills and prairie. On the observation deck there are binoculars, multimedia information kiosks and the thrilling Glass Floor Experience. The dining room rotates, allowing visitors the chance to relax with a meal while viewing the entire city from their window-side tables at the Panorama Dining Room. Tops Grill, located above the observation deck, is open seasonally and offers a light menu. Hours vary by season, call for exact hours.
Elevator ride takes 62 seconds. Long way up. There is even an area of glass floor where you can see straight down into the street. Loved looking in the distance and seeing the Rockies.
This was fun place for dinner although the price in consideration for the tiny size of the meal was wasy overpriced! A salad consists of 3 leaves of lettuce. The experince of the tower continually rotating while having dinner was neat but hard to see the whole city over the high rises. would take my kids back if the prices were lowered!
I enjoyed this attraction. It was one of the most enjoyable things I did on my trip.I liked the beautiful veiw of the mountains and the rotating resteraunt was very nice aswell. This was well worth my money.
We went up to have dinner and see the view at night-definitely worth the price and the food was great! I don't think I would have gone up during the day or just for the view. I really, really like the glass floor-it took both of us some time to get the courage to go out on it!
Probably not, once in my lifetime was probably too much. If you must go, don't eat at that over priced resteraunt at the top, that's not worth your time.
Calgary Tower is very overated. I guess its more of a symbol of Calgary rather than an actual attraction. Its not very tall, the view isn't all that great (blocked by new high-rises). The shop at the top of the tower is pricy and doesn't have that much variety.
I went to the Calgary tower when I was little, and the one thing I loved about it was that all the cars looked like little toys, and it took me a while to understand that they weren't. I still loved it because I always imagined that I would one day jump off it and live. I know better now!!!
Way too much money to go up an elevator and look out a window. Don't waste your time.
It's funny how often people who live in a city don't know about the wonderful attractions that they have. The last time I visited the Calgary Tower was over 10 years ago, and I just paid them a second visit the other day. The staff was very friendly and courteous and my meal at the Panorama Dining Room was excellent! All Calgarians should make an effort to visit our landmark Tower!
I so cannot wait to step on the glass floor and attended an even there once and was the best I have ever gone too!!
