Overview

Canada's largest living historical village is divided into a pioneer Northwest Mounted Police outpost and a Main Street from 1910. The latter has a working antique amusement park, with rides that are safe even for small children. Other attractions include a working full-scale locomotive thundering through the park, and on nearby Glenmore Reservoir, a vintage double-decker stern wheeler ship that takes visitors on lake cruises. Shops and restaurants are plentiful in the park, including a turn-of-the-century bakery. All park staff work in costume and character. Entertaining events for the whole family are scheduled year-round, including September's Fall Fair. Check website for full list of events.

        August 25th, 2006 Trip to Heritage Parkby Yahoo | 2007-09-03 23:28:39 |

This is a great representation of Western Canada at the turn of the century. My three year old nephew had a ball with the full scale passenger steam train that travels around the entire park. We also had fun travelling on the S.S. Moyne (a full scaled stern wheeled paddle boat). The Calgary Produce Marketing Association's Harvest Sale was on the weekend that we visited. This was a great chance to get locally grown produce at very cheap prices as we left. It was interesting to send post cards from one of the original post office's in Western Canada and to learn about the early days of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Like most kids, my nephew also enjoyed seeing all of the farm animals and waving to the horses as the wagon rolled through town. I'd definitely try to schedule another trip there the next time I'm in town.

My favourite place in Calgaryby Yahoo | 2006-08-30 17:52:34 |

Heritage Park is the best place in town to "get away from it all". There is a real sense of going back to a quieter, slower paced time. Strolling down the wooden sidewalks on a spring day eating ice cream while the kids run on the grass brings back memories and lowers the blood pressure. Here, we forget about rush hour and cell phones and enjoy the shade and a bit of history while we're at it. I've been in Calgary since 1999 and buy a season ticket every year.

We really loved our day at Heritage Park while we were in Calgary, Canada. It was extremely interesting to view the history of the area first hand. We felt as though we were back in that part of time. I would most definitly recomend everyone visiting Heritage Park when you are in Calgary, Canada. Dianne & Gerald Andras

they had stuff that people used in the olden days, how they lived, how they cooked, how they travelled. this shows us how lucky we are now.
