Overview

Seventy-six miles south of Cancún is an amazingly beautiful, natural aquarium of the Mayan Riviera. Xel-Ha has a system of caverns, coves and lagoons that are home to hundreds of marine species. One of the species of fish, affectionately known as "kissers," are not afraid of people and come so close that they seem to "kiss" your skin. Beyond all of the natural features it offers, there is also a good selection of restaurants, shops and more located here. Ask your hotel about the organized tours if you don't want to rent a car.

Open Hours

Gorgeous, But Get Here Earlyby Yahoo | 2009-09-02 21:13:25 |

Absolutely wonderful place for a full day of fun and great times. BUT, get here early, because it closes at sundown. The best way to do it is to rent your own car (its cheap, the roads are fine) and get up early and whip down here because the park is about 55 miles south of Cancun. So if its late Nov through late Jan that you're here, then sundown is 5:00-5:30. There's so much to do here you'll definitely want a full day here so get here by 9:00 a.m. at the latest! Its a total blast. There's nothing like Xel-Ha or Xcaret (which has an incredible night show) anywhere else in North America!

Is a MUST when you go to Cancunby Yahoo | 2009-06-22 17:09:24 |

I loved the atmosphere. The snorkeling was not all that, but being in the water was amazing. The floating bridge was scary and fun. You can dive off cliffs, float down the river on an inner tube, you can cross a rope bridge, swim with dolphins, take pictures of wild iguanas, manatees, and eat and drink how ever much you want. Its all inclusive. Will go back definitively.

    The best!!by Yahoo | 2008-12-05 19:36:00 |

Xelha was one of the best natural water park that I have been too. So many things to do, and you can eat non stop with pleanty buffets, make sure to bring water cameras, because the pictures do get expensive. But beautiful and so much fun, must go!!!

    Loved It!by Yahoo | 2008-07-29 22:03:11 |

Xel-Ha was absolutely gorgeous. We did the tour that was Tulum then Xel-ha that way we could have the remainder of the day to play there. We didn't see a ton of fish when we were snorkeling but the area was so pretty that it was nice to swim around the lagoon and look for them. It was an all-inclusive meaning we could eat and drink all we wanted. The drinks were fairly strong too! There were a lot of activities and you were able to get away from the crowd of people if you chose too. You could jump off a 20-30 foot cliff into the water too that my husband absolutely loved. It's a very pretty place. Next time in Cancun, we'll definitely spend a whole day there!

    i cant wait to go back againby Yahoo | 2008-07-25 20:29:45 |

    amazing xel-haby Yahoo | 2008-07-15 17:05:52 |

Xel-ha was one of the coolest experiences of my life. I only wish we had more time than a 4 hours there. The snorkeling was crystal clear and the fish were breathtaking. We even snorkeled within 3 feet of grouper far larger than us. There were even baracuda and a few large gentle sting rays. I have never seen anything quite like it. Make sure you let the people on the little rafts and strategically placed around the parks take your pictures. They have 8x10's of the pics ready for you when you leave, and they aren't very expensive. The food was excellent and was included in our tour. I can't wait to go back to snorkel in the fresh water area and swim with the dolphins! Definately a recommended trip!

This is a must visit attraction for anyone going to Cancun! We absolutely loved Xel-Ha. It is great for couples or families. It is fantastic and I wish we could have stayed longer. I would love to go back.

    Must Visit Mayan Treasureby Yahoo | 2008-06-28 23:38:10 |

The is the ONE stop you MUST include when visiting Cancun. The park is exceptional. The interactive water adventures are mind expanding. I discovered several new indigeous species. But the most memorable point of this experience was the live outdoor theatre show detailing the history of Mexico through music, song and dance including all types of animals. This show rivaled the best of Broadway based on presentation, content and joy provided to the viewers. Bravo!

    I loved Xel-Ha.....by Yahoo | 2008-06-25 19:27:30 |

Xel-Ha was beautiful! As for the $20.00 deposit on snorkels, you pay that at most places no matter where you go...it's a vacation people....that's how they make their living! If you want to be cheap...stay home and buy a fish tank and fill it with fish! *LOL* I have been to Xel-Ha several times and plan on going back this weekend actually for vacation and it is more than worth the money to see this place...beautiful sand beaches, relaxing atmosphere and plenty to do if that is what you choose to do! Or just relax and enjoy the sites.....I loved it!!

    Not what they said!!by Yahoo | 2008-06-18 21:03:17 |

Was really exciting about going and they do make it sound so beautiful!! But first our bus ride..yes is very long. 2hours and our driver was very slow. At one point wouldn't go over 40mph and there was no traffic. But you try and take in the sights!! I don't think it was worth the $83..(and that was a discount) and tell you it's all inclusive..cause it's not! You do need that $20 per person deposit for your snorkel gear and if you didn't bring money..you don't snorkel! The fish just didn't seem to come around when we were there..cause we only saw 2 turtles..on big fish and what seemed like a bunch of guppies!! LOL!! Eat early..cause lines get long! Wanted to swim with dolphins but that was of course alot more money..could of done that on Hotel Zone for cheaper!! Other than that not much else to do there..It is beautiful..but got more joy out of going into town and really seeing mexico and how they really live..makes you appreciate what you have..very educational for kids to see how other people live..I know my children said "Thanks mom/dad for what you give us" But enjoy if go!!
