Built in 1982, Palais des Festivals et des Congrés is one of the hottest venues in the town where, year-round, activities revolve around tourism, international festivals (like the famous Cannes film festival) and conferences. The sand-colored, futuristic Palais des Festivals, which marks the end of the beaches on La Croisette and the beginning of the old port. It is always a whirl of activity, no matter what time of year, hosting events such as the international music trade show MIDEM, MIPTV (International Television Program Market. Inside there's 24,000 square meters (258,335 square feet) worth of exhibition space and an auditorium with seating for 2300 people, a casino, fruit machines, and Jimmy'z nightclub.
