Overview
Whether you choose to visit the park on foot or by car, this 20-hectare (50-acre) mini safari park gives you the chance to get close to some of the animal kingdom's strangest and most beautiful animals such as the elephant, monkey, wolf, kangaroo, hippopotamus, porcupine and reptiles. Opened in 1971, this highly acclaimed park, located about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Cannes, was specially designed to let its animals live in as natural a habitat as possible. Don't miss the sea lion and tiger training sessions!Open Hours
Mo to Su from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PMThe zoo is poorly maintained. The animals look ragged and neglected. The cages are poor with little for the animals to do. There is little for the children to do, you will see everything in less than half an hour. The brochure shows hands on with the animals and live shows. This wasn’t the case. No hands on and the show area hadn’t been used for a while as it was very overgrown. Some areas of the zoo were closed off to the public. The roads and walking areas are riddled with potholes and cacti thus rendering them unsuitable for young children and buggies. This is what zoos were like 30 years ago. We all found it very distressing and felt that it should be closed. DON’T GO.
This zoo is shabby and tired. Some of the cages are deplorable with miserable looking animals pacing and self mutilating. Although the children were excited to get close to such big animals as hippo, elephants and tigers, as adults we found it all quite distressing. We didn't see one keeper in the two hours we were there (although this was lunchtime in France!). On the way out we came across a 'show cage' about the size of my living room with pedestals, in which there were four tigers and one jaguar, pacing - waiting to put on a show? We didn't hang around to find out.
