Overview

The Avila is an older hotel, founded in the 1940s by Nelson Rockefeller. The hotel is surrounded by quiet, floral gardens which provide a welcome relief from the gray concrete of the capital. The landscaped lawns are host to a jogging path, and an on site gym and pool are also available. There is a dining area beside the pool and all the rooms have balconies, many of which offer a splendid view of Mount Avila. Convention and meeting facilities are available, as is a business support staff. The downtown area is easily accessible by taxi.

I will go backby Yahoo | 2007-10-12 01:36:17 |

It was mij first time in Caracas (09/2007)and i was glad that i choose this hotel. In the centre are more and better hotels, but still they are in the center with a lot off noise and no garden etc. This hotel is lokated on a quiet and nice place. Outside the hotel area you can walk, but in the evening it's better to do not. (By the way:There is no reason to walk outside the hotelarea, because you don't have anything to see there). We took the taxi every day(which are standing for the hotel) and it wasn't expensive. Our room was o.k and clean. It had also a safe which you could use for free. Also is there botteld water for free and a refricharater in the room!? You had too speak a little spanisch, because only some people from the reception speaks Englisch. The service is o.k, also the food. The breakfast is o.k but you haven't much choise (in comparance with European hotels).

This is my kind of hotelby Yahoo | 2007-01-11 04:00:34 |

I haven't been there is a while, but I cherish the memory of a week I spent there. Absolutely lovely! I don't know about current maintenance problems, so I can't say, but for me it was magical. I liked that it's located in a neighborhood of nice homes.

great I love itby Yahoo | 2005-12-28 15:58:25 |

Nothing, it is old and has got history. It is close to the Mountain "El Avila" and the city centre is easily reached. Plainly I like it.

Nightmareby Yahoo | 2005-03-27 22:45:19 |

Not good. We went there because my mom had been there seven years ago, and back then it was one of the best in Caracas. The maintenance is terrible. They gave us these terrible rooms where all the bathrooms where in more that unacceptable condition, we complain and they moved us to other rooms somehow better. But in my opinion they shouldn't have offer us those rooms on the first place. The carpet was dirty, one of the toilet wasn't working, there were not hand towels and not rug to put outside the bathtub either. They said they are renewing the hotel, but I'm not sure we will ever go back.

Enjoyed my stay!by Yahoo | 2004-05-06 16:45:58 |

If you want an American style hotel tower, this is not it. The Avila has beautiful gardens, and indoor-outdoor bar in a lush setting and top notch service. It is not located right downtown, but, is in a convenient place.
