Overview

Visitors to the Scenic City are often surprised by the rich history of Civil War battles fought in Chattanooga. This museum allows you to "watch" the battles unfold on an enormous electric map. All the battlefields are drawn and the armies arranged for battle. Their movements are portrayed with a brilliant collection of sound and lighting effects. Elsewhere in the museum is a collection of artifacts from the period including uniforms and personal effects of the soldiers. Admission charges are: $6.95 for adults; $4.95 for children; Free for children under 2 years of age. The museum is closed on Christmas.

For history lovers onlyby Yahoo | 2007-11-03 17:44:33 |

If you find yourself in Chattanooga and you are a lover of history, especially the War for Southern Independence, then this attraction is a must. To be most effective one should visit here the first day you are in town. The actual attraction is a lot like a really big setup of toy soldiers and has no animation or movement. However the lights highlighting the display does really allow you to understand how the battles in the area played out and the geography of the area. After my visit I could easily spot most of the important battle sites and mentally follow the flow of the battles from the nearby park overview. Not for kids but great for history buffs, like me!

It's history all can enjoy.by Yahoo | 2006-03-22 23:49:58 |

I am writing in rebuttle of the previous reviewer. I would highly recommend this attraction for any family of any age and most importantly, at any level of knowledge of American or civil war history. Chattanooga was a city of major strategic value in the civil war and the struggles of the men who fought there are very well presented in the electric map. I can only say that I wish there was more in the museum proportional to the historical revelance of the Battles for Chattanooga but this attraction is well worth the time and functions extremely well as an introduction to what happened in the Chattanooga Valley 143 years ago.

Waste of Timeby Yahoo | 2005-02-16 03:51:57 |

Waste of money. Kids found in boring but we all enjoyed Point Park just down the road. Best view we had of Chattanooga and more history. Electronic map is the main selling feature on the Battles. Nice but just not worth the price. Safe to skip and not miss anything
