Overview

Peacefully seated on the banks of the Mae Kok River, this is a scenic town in the Mae Ai district of Chiang Mai province. Its residents still preserve their traditional way of life and you will not see much commercialization in this area. Besides absorbing the beautiful landscape, one may visit Wat Thatorn, a magnificent Buddhist temple with a huge Buddha image sitting on a hill. If one opts to stay overnight,there is plenty of accommodation to suit all pockets. Most people arrive from Chiang Mai to take the 3-hour longtail boat ride down the River Kok to Chiang Rai.
