I myself drove from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. Covered the journey in 2 hours. Small town. Not much to do, except the night market. Lotsa things to buy there. Staying at the Wang Come hotel is a good decision. Price is 1500baht for delxue double. Breaskfast anit great. breakfast at rimkok resort is excellent. place is a bit off though. I got lost finding it. night wang come hotel, 200m is the famous night market. big hawker centre there with lots of good food, live singers and great atmosphere. ends at 12am. overall night experience. not avisable to stay more than 2 days.
