Le Colonial is dark, yet comfy, and draws a packed house during lunchtime. The décor is strictly authentic, with plain paper table coverings. The food is another thing entirely, combining French and Vietnamese flavors. Try Ca Hap, steamed filet of Chilean sea bass with cellophane noodles, mushrooms, scallions and ginger (market price) or Vit Quay, ginger marinated roast duck with tamarind dipping sauce. For an appetizer, try the tasty Bo Bia, soft salad roll with julienne vegetables, herbs and a sweet dipping sauce.
