Overview

Shout "Opah!" (not Oprah) as you explore one of Chicago's ethnic neighborhoods. In the late 1800s, Greeks began immigrating to this part of the city. Today, much of the ethnicity of the neighborhood is gone, but a number of high quality restaurants are strewn over Halsted, and a trip here can be a culinary delight. There are also lots of friendly taverns open late, making this area of Chicago especially popular for those who want to grab a drink before heading back to their Loop hotels or apartments.

Open Hours

Mo to Su from 12:00 AM to 12:00 AM

Worth every visitby Yahoo | 2007-11-29 14:30:10 |

Every time i travel to Chicago, i always have that need of visiting Greektown. It is not only the authentic atmosphere of the whole place but the fact that you really feel like you are in Greece. I would definetely recomend that to everyone who visits Chicago. A unique part of the city not far away from downtown. And no doubt that you will enjoy great greek food here. Lets OPA then!

I visited Pegasus Taverna in Greek Town. It was a lot of fun. The atmosphere is bright and cheery. The waiters speak Greek which only adds to the feeling of the place. The food is so amazing and filling. I would definitely reccomend GreekTown to anyone who wants to experience a new culture and enjoy some good Greek food.

No, you won't find a coloseum in Greektown, but this chunk of the Old World just west of the Loop has many tasty offerings. What's your pleasure -- belly dancers? Shots of ouzo? You'll find all that and my personal favorite: Lamb, sweet lamb.

The best place we went to in Greek Town was the Greek Islands restaurant. Fabulous food, (especially the swordfish kebabs!). Fabulous service and fabulous setting. We have been several times on our visit to Chicago and each time has been so enjoyable. The bar area is great too, a lovely, friendly atmosphere. can't wait to go back. Carol and Frankie Everson.
