Overview

Opened in 1993, the Chocolate Museum is located in Cologne's former harbor, and the building has been designed in the shape of a ship's prow in deference to this maritime connection. Architect Ernst Eller constructed the building almost entirely out of glass, according to the specifications of Hans Imhoff, head of the Stollwerck company. The firm has also influenced the name of the museum, which in full reads 'The Imhoff-Stollwerck Museum of the Past and Present of Chocolate'. Visitors can drink from the warm chocolate spring and try out the home-made chocolate produced in the factory.

We loved the tour and the smell was great. The gift shop was excellent and many presents were bought and well as many samples were eaten! Recomend for a stop!

May be good for kids but i thought it was a bit of a dud. It's a great museum for what it is but I probably could have thought of something more interesting to do with my afternoon.

The greatest thing about this place was the chocolate fountain! My fiance and I got there with very little money, no food, and a long train ride back to school. We found the chocolate factory and went nuts inside eating as much chocolate as we could! The chocolate was great and the history was too, even though they had a lot of pictures with them and the Nazis... had a great time though!

All the infomation is written in English as well as German so you don't need to struggle with translations. Free samples of fresh chocolate are given out (you get to watch it being made). Also a good shop.
