Overview
The Olympic Visitor Center offers free guided tours which include the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame, interactive displays and an endless collection of Olympic photos. Be sure to check out the Olympic flame and pretend in your own weird way that you were the torch bearer who ignited it. If you need a souvenir visit the well stocked gift shop that shelves hard to find Olympic T-shirts, jackets and caps. And while wandering about keep an eye open for the many well-known athletes who train here. Admission is free.
It comes as a welcome surprise to me when I saw in the Colorado Springs Official Visitor Guide that the US Olympic Complex is actually open to visitors. Of course, only certain areas of the complex is open to the public, but that is sufficient to catch a glimpse of certain athletes in action. Unfortunately, I missed the free guided tour which would have been very insightful. However, the self-guided map is easy enough to follow. If you have an hour to spare in this pleasant city, do stop by this complex for a "Citius, Altius, Fortius" experience.
I was pleasantly surprised at our tour of the Olympic Complex. We were just looking for something to do for a few hours in the morning before catching our flight back home. It was impressive, I wouldn't call it fun per se, but interesting. We were taken on a 30 min tour of the complex, seeing some athletes practicing as we went along such as the Women's Volleyball team. I would recommend this tour and/or visiting the complex. I would say about 2hrs is a good amount of time to spend here. And best of all, it's FREE! If you want to advertise for the next Olympics, stop in at the gift shop and buy a T-shirt.....:)
