Overview

Officially part of Parque Benito Juarez, but referred to as just 'la plaza' this town square is steps away from the ferry docks. Cruise ship passengers, Cancun day-trippers, shoppers, and locals can be seen here day and night. The numerous shops, restaurants, and bars keep the area hopping. Every Sunday night, there is a free open-air concert of dance and music that locals and tourist come to enjoy, and in April, there's a special party for El Dia del Niño. When in doubt about what to do in San Miguel, head down to 'la plaza' for an idea.

This is just the town square. If you come by cruise ship or stay in a hotel, you cant miss it. Lots of shops and restaurants. Many times at night they have bands or singers and people dancing all around. want to try a local treat? i forget the name of it, but there is a little ice cream stand on the ride side of the plaza about half way up when u stand with ur back to the water. there they also serve a local treat- its corn, mayonaise & chilli. it doesnt sound appetizing, but i was forced to try it and LOVED it. for $2, its worth a try!
