Overview
Plaza de Armas was known as Huacaypata (Warrior Square in quechua) in Inca times and is believed to have been designed by Manco Cápac. A magnificent Cathedral and the Church of La Compañía flank it on two sides. The Plaza was the scene of many key events in the history of the city. It was here that Pizarro proclaimed the conquest of Cusco. The arrival of the Spanish brought many changes to the Plaza, including the addition of the beautiful stone arches that surround it.Open Hours

Everything you see here will blow your mind. The people are some of the kindest I have ever met. I can't say enough about what you will see. Everything you look at is more amazing than the last thing you saw. It was like this for every second of my 12 day trip to this region.
Well what can I say, the bars around Cusco Plaza de Armas make it the perfect place for a bar crawl.... Start off in the early afternoon at one of the bars which shows movies and then move on when the film has finished and you have finished your jug of cocktails. Then let the ticket touts accost you when you get outside and bargin with them to get them to give you a free drink of your choice instead of the regular rum and coke (unless that is your drink of choice)..... keep on moving round the Plaza getting one free drink in each bar and see how many laps you can do before you get confused or lose people!
