Overview

This is the most important archaeological site in this valley, only 21 kilometers from Cusco, set in the hills at an altitude of 4,000 and 3,200 meters. A huge wall that reaches 10-15 meters in height surrounds the ruins. Tipón was an agricultural site in a U-shaped basin, which also held ceremonial buildings and living quarters. The underground water channels and above-ground irrigation systems supplied the whole area with abundant water. Pucará, at 3,950 meters, has an urban and agricultural sector and a remarkable view. Admission: 35 soles (included in Tourist Ticket).

Go here the way this place is built is shocking.by Yahoo | 2007-07-03 02:46:25 |

Go here and get ready to huff and puff. Follow the trench up the left side. We followed it for an hr before we gave up. These guys were master farmers.

The site is huge and still allows you to move around freely. It's within 40 min. by bus from Cusco. Definitely a place to visit. Part of the 'Boleto Turistico'.
