This museum is for older children and adults. There are quite a few actual engines and train cars to walk around. You should probably know something about trains before you go as there is very little descriptive signage. Maybe going with a group and getting a guided tour would be the best way to go. I friend and I went and we had our 2 year olds with us. My son is a train nut so it seemed like a good idea. From our perspective it was a train version or a pick and pull junk yard. The trains seem to be in a state of slow decay. There are 2 passenger cars you can walk through. The floor outside the door of one of the cars seemed like it was about to rust through as is was cracked and bent as we walked on it. My friend said she felt like we were in an episode of scooby doo and we were the medaling kids. Also this place is not ADA compliant. Lots of stairs and walking over railroad tracks Maybe someday this museum will have the funding to be as nice as the Frontiers of Flight Museum
Wonderful Trains, but are in much need of restoration. The Museum is lacking funding, and support, to carry this out. Any Donations or Volunteer help would also be helpfull. Please understand, I'm just visiter, I am not employed or work there. This really is a wonderful collection, over all. I go every time I have a chance.
