Overview

Established in 1958, this museum was created to preserve an important part of Colorado history and, in particular, the narrow gauge mountain railroads that were pioneered in the state. The museum houses an extensive collection of railroad equipment as well as original photographs and paintings by pioneers, including William Henry Jackson. In addition to the museum, there are 50 train cars, trolleys and locomotives, including a 317-ton Burlington locomotive 5629. A gift shop is on-site. Open daily 9am onwards.

Unless you are big on trains and their history, I wouldn't spend the money to do this tour. It's self guided, so I didn't really get alot out of it. Plus, it was hot outside and it was right after we finished the Coors tour. Let me just say... high heat and tipsyness from beer do not mix well. If you are going to do this tour, do it before the Coors tour.
