Overview
After spending 104 years tucked away in northwest Denver, Elitch Gardens abandoned its home for a more spacious downtown site, which allowed it to add state-of-the-art rides, such as the free falling Tower of Doom and the Sidewinder. Besides the more than 100 rides, there are numerous shows, shopping outlets and eateries to keep the family entertained. In addition, in the summer you can alternate between the numerous roller coasters and the neighboring mammoth water park. Hours fluctuate throughout the year hence call ahead for the schedule. We went to EG this weekend and our bag was stolen from water park area. When we asked customer service, she told us to check restroom as it is common over there and there are many such incidents. Later we found our bag in gents restroom but WITHOUT VALUABLE ITEMS. Spoke to a lady cop and she was useless. They know that there is a security problem but did not explicitly put sign to take care of stuff. ATMs were not working and a number of rides were closed. If you go, take care of your stuff else.....
I took my kids to EG because, to all teenagers, theme parks are a great attraction. We arrived at about 2:30 pm. By 5 pm, they (not me) were ready to leave. The food was extraordinarily expensive. Large fry and a small bottle of water...$8.00!!! Don't even ask about the other food items. All the areas seemed old and dirty and since this isNOT a Six Flags park anymore, there is no theme to this "theme" park. The rides were not particularily impressive...no signature roller-coasters. The shows were very poorly done ( hardly any staging or props). Not to sound Puritan, but since there is a water park attached there is an endless parade of unattended teenagers; most with tatoos, body piercings and unflattering body parts hanging out running amock. Not a place you want really young children. The lines were extremely long and poorly supervised (lots of cutting going on). It was over 100 degrees the day of our visit, and nowhere to escape the heat. I was sooo glad to leave that place. I've been to theme parks from coast to coast...from Carowinds in the Carolinas to Lagoon in Salt Lake...and this is, by a wide margin, the worst of the bunch. Truly an embarassment to a city as large as Denver.
My daughter and I visited on the 19th of July. You cannot take in your own food as was the case at the OLD ELITCH'S so you must buy their tripple priced food and drinks. $10 to rent a locker to keep your belongings safe. The atmosphere is not the same as what it was at the old Elitch's. $10 to park down from $15 what a deal!!. Elitch's website does not offer a customer feedback or suggestion link. Be prepared to spend a LOT of money if you go there. I won't go again
The prices were terrible! The rides were ok. The people are rude here! I wouldn't come back. You'll waste your money if you come here.
This place was very injoyable soooo much chaeper than disneyland or disney world even if it is not as fun as disneys it still is a a great place to be with your faimaly. If your looking for fun in CO. than this is the place to be!
I cant really focus on anything that was "bad" above the rest, I can only say, direct observation Of the whole experience. Parking/bad. pricing/ridiculous, highway robbery. Rides/bad. employee's "attitudes" bad. food. horrible/expensive/VERY low quality. The whole experience Bad/dissapointing/uncomfortable...Ad-Nauseum. Outside of Salt Lake City Utah is a small amusement park called LAGOON it is very reasonably priced, clean, the people are nice, the rides are modern, it's just a good time all aroung. I STATE THIS TO SHOW I'M NOT BIASED TOWARDS THE "small" park. AVOID THE GARDEN IN DENVER LIKE THE PLAUGUE.
I have not been for four pr five years last time the lines were too long and no one did anything about people cutting in line the announcers for the rides were hard to understand I used to love going to elitches but the last time it was to much too many people to crowded too long of lines I hope you have done something to improve this and I will be going again in the next few years and I am looking forward toa better experience than the last time also my experience on the flying coaster was horrible they barely give you enough time to get ready before they are sending you up and they did not explain how to get on the ride very well I think this one is an accident waiting to happen.
I didn't like that you have to wait in line for a long time and people like to cut in front of you. The water park was worth the time you have to wait in line but it goes by alot faster. I would probably go back.
I love this place. So many fun rides to go on. It is hard to leave once you are there. And the water park is a great place to col off and have some fun!!!!!!!!!!! And also what a wonderful staff always there when you need them and is very kind. I always go to six flags for some goog old fun fun fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will not take my family back to the park. Even with the discount, the cost was over 119 dollars for four. Which is not bad if all the rides were open. In fact at least a third of the rides were down, including two roller coasters, the tower, several secondary rides, and two shows. Honest, it felt like half the park was closed and we are still in the midst of summer AND a weekend! Bet we wouldn't get half our money back. To not see Elitchs is to save money for better things in Denver. Thanks
