Overview
The Detroit Tigers, charter members of Major League Baseball's American League, abandoned historic Tiger Stadium at the close of the 1999 season. Their new home is now in the downtown Theater District. Named after a bank whose funds made its creation possible, Comerica Park has something of a circus like atmosphere with enormous sculptures of tigers, bats and balls, as well as a carousel and ferris wheel. Fancy food and pricey amenities abound and baseball seems to take second place to entertainment. Sight lines are clear but upper-deck seats are distant.Upcoming Events Near Comerica Park

As long as you sit in premium seating Comerica Park is great. A majority of the seats sit so far from the field that it you feel as if you are watching the game from a roof top across the street. Also, the slope of the seating is so minimal that it is very difficult if not impossable for short people as well as kids to see over the people in the front rows. This ball park is unaffordable for many families unfortunately. Besides the seating, this is a nice ballpark.
Fun and lots to do. Kids area is great. Good exhibits of team history to see. Food and teamwear have good choices but expensive. Beautiful stadium. Splurge on the Tiger Den seats-- lots of leg room and comfy seats.
The police have so many roads blocked off and you can't turn on the street reserved for handicap dropoff. I have to drop my husband in an alley behind Fox Theatre and he has to cross Woodward Ave. in his wheelchair. He has to dodge traffic and throngs of people. Inside the stadium all the able bodied people use the elevator so he has to go up the ramp to his seat. Everyone knows that people with spinal cord injuries cannot control there body temperature. There is no shade from the sun or wind, let alone rain. An electric wheelchair doesn't work well in the rain. The stadium is beautiful but doesn't anyone consult the handicapped before they construct these things? We can't afford for both of us to attend the game. So my husband has to struggle alone. The Metrolift service is so unreliable at night he cannot use it to go to the games anymore at night.
One of the best new stadiums. I love the seating in the boxes. The wooden chairs and tables are great. I love the views too. You can see the Detroit skyline, the new Ford Stadium, and the seagulls are a riot.
great stadium, seats very reasonably priced (before playoff run) parking easy, cool merchandise store, lots of food outlets and toilets, no lines. my wife and i loved it, fantastic evening even tho were not huge MLB fans
I liked the fact that one can park for $8.00 right off of I-75, and then easily walk over to the ballpark. The tickets, starting at about $8.00, are a good deal, and the stadium is beautifully designed. All the seats are good. The team offers excellent ticket/meal combo deals, so check out their website to see what they're offering. The front entrance, with the tigers and bats display is an eye-pleaser. And, what other stadium has a ferris wheel for kids? It's great. Go!
Comerica Park has to be one of the best parks in the country. I thought the look of the stadium was really cool. It is without a doubt a lot more eye appealing than the old Tiger Stadium which really only had the vintage thing going for it. Kids will love the carousel and of course the ferris wheel(in which the cars are shaped like baseballs). The scoreboard is really cool and so is the waterspouts in centerfield. My seats were lower deck behind the plate and I thought the seats were great. My daughter really liked the Tigers on the scoreboard along with the carousel and ferris wheel. I definetly want to go back for another ballgame.
love the new comerica park, especially now that the tigers are winning. the first game we went to was awesome, the atmosphere, the seating, everything is customer friendly. the only problem is the prices! couldn't afford to take the kids too often, it is easy to spend way too much!!
Yes you get a great view of Downtown, and there are no poles, but thats were the good ends !! You sit a mile away from the action, especially in the upper deck. There is no place to get out of the sun or rain unless you have a lot of time and lots of money to go to the concession stands. If you're sitting down the 3rd baseline on a sunny evening game, you need welding goggles to see home plat as you are staring right into the sun !! A very poorly thought out design for anyone that loved Tiger Stadium and its nice intimate setting.
We went to a Tigers game with our son and grandsons and had a great time. Afterwards we enjoyed the fireworks display which was a hit because we were there on the 4th July weekend. I would definitely recommend it for others to go, just for the experience.
