Overview

In the lean years when downtown Detroit was moribund, Greektown was the only place alive at night, so it's only fitting now that as Detroit revives, Greektown is the place to be. What once was one block of nearly identical Greek restaurants has expanded into a throbbing center of restaurants, clubs, shops and a casino. The indoor mall, Trappers Alley, was an earlier attempt to update the area. The increasingly upscale but still affordable Greek eateries and bakeries, with their succulent baklava and other pastries, still provide the anchor for an increasingly diverse area.

Dining at Pegasus in Greektownby Yahoo | 2008-04-14 18:30:53 |

We ate at Pegasus. It appeared to be truly authentic Greek. We had the Gyros which were yummy. Value was good based upon amount of food for the money. However, for improvements I suggest, better ventilation in the kitchen...we left smelling like food. Also, CLEAN THE GRAPEVINES! It was a big turnoff to walk in, look around, and see nothing but dirty dust all over the fake grapes and grapevines hanging overhead. Loved the atmosphere of Greektown.

Must Visitby Yahoo | 2008-02-27 05:10:29 |

Any time I am in the Detroit Area, a trip to Greektown is a must. I have been going since the '70's and have never had a bad meal or experience. The people and the atmosphere is in itself a treat! Start with an appetizer of flaming cheese or the sausage, then a greek salad followed by your main course. Save room for dessert because you will want to stop by one of the bakeries and pick up something for later. You won't be disappointed.

Greektown is wonderful.by Yahoo | 2007-04-03 16:56:32 |

It displeases me to hear the comment about Greektown being a "Dump". I have been there 3 times now and not only love the atmosphere, but REALLY enjoy the restaurants! I have a love for baklava pastry and will try it anywhere that serves it so see which one is the best that money can buy. Currently, Greektown is 2nd favorite on my list. The restaurants have always given me excellent service, and the food has been wonderful! Especially the lamb. I would recomend it to anyone who visits Detroit! -Kzoo Lady

Not that great....by Yahoo | 2007-01-23 04:09:04 |

Greektown is a dump. The price these places charge is crazy for the garbage they give you. Almost everyone of these places is dirty inside, don't belive me, next time your there, just take a look around. It made me sick to my stomach. I do not recommend any of these restaurants to anyone. I dont think I would ever go back.

Greektown during Auto Showby Yahoo | 2007-01-18 21:42:21 |

Loved the ambiance, crowds, and traffic. Lot's of greek food smell in the air, along with the bakeries, made me feel I was in Greece. Loved the food, but the service was medium, probably due to exhaustion of the staff serving meals full time all day long during the Auto show. Best place in Detroit to find a restaurant without reservations.

Greektown!by Yahoo | 2006-01-19 01:04:33 |

Greektown is fun. The casino makes it even better. There isn't much to do down there except eat and go to the casino. But it's fun to hang out there. I'm not sure what else they could add down there to spice it up a little more but it works for now.

In the center of it allby Yahoo | 2005-09-04 15:42:00 |

I like greektown since it is in the heart of detroit. You have so many restaurants to choose from and I lovvvee the fact that the greektown casion is steps away.
