Overview
Located in the village of Benrath, a suburb of Dusseldorf since 1929, Schloss Benrath, was erected in 1756-73, in the middle of a spacious park bordered by the Rhine, by electoral Prince Carl Theodor von Pfalz-Sulzbach. Designed by Nicolas de Pigage, the residence is a fine example of the transition from late baroque to classical architecture. The main building contains some exquisite furniture and 18th century paintings, while the west wing is home to the Benrath Natural History Museum. From November to the middle of April the museum closes an hour early, at 5p.Open Hours

This small castle is easy to tour and filled with interesting stories. The gardens surrounding the castle make for a pleasant walk and have lots of nooks and cranies to explore. Afterwards one should roundout the afternoon with coffee and cake at the old coach house turned cafe or at the Rheinterrase along the river.
I didn't like it. Way to Classy for my taste. To fancy. I hated it. Consider my review before visting. It was so boring. But what do I know, I'm only 12.
Schloss Benrath is beautiful and unusual, situated in gardens and parkland with direct access to the Rhine. Join the other Benrathers on a promenade beside the Rhine. The town of Benrath is also worth a visit. There are a number of unusual shops and a daily market. Stitchers: don't miss 'Stoff Art' on Boerchemstrasse (patchwork and embroidery). Take the 701 tram from the city centre, or any number of trains from Dusseldorf main train station, relax and have fun.
My aunt lives right by schloss Benrath, it has one of the most beautiful gardens ive ever seen.
My family and I visited Schloss Benrath in April 1998. It's very lovely with all its fine plaster work and marble floors. Take your time walking through it's many gardens, the English garden was my favorite.
